Good Corporate Citizens Awards 2011

 

The Bombay Chamber of Commerce & Industry instituted the Good Corporate Citizen Award in 1994 to recognize and honor conspicuous achievement by corporate in terms of service to the civic community in addition to outstanding operational performance. The Bombay Chamber believes that, industry has a major role to play in the betterment of society by making a positive contribution to the community. It is a prestigious award to publicly acknowledge and recognize the exemplary endeavors taken up by the corporate for significant contributions towards corporate citizenship.

 

The awards have been categorized as - 

  

·               Large Corporate

·               Medium Corporate

·               Small and Micro Companies

·               Banks and Financial Institutions  

The parameters of evaluation were business performance, performance in industrial relations, environment, safety and occupational health, employee welfare, ethics and customer satisfaction, and social investment/CSR.

The juries for the Good Corporate Citizen Awards 2011 were:

 

1.   Mr. Viraal Balsari, Harvard Business School India

2.   Justice V. Palshikar (Retd.), Former Additional Judge, Bombay High Court

3.   Prof. Rupa Shah, Former Vice Chancellor, SNDT University

 

At their meeting held on September 14, 2011 at the Bombay Chamber Conference Room, the eminent judges have declared the Good Corporate Citizen Awards for the year 2011 as follows:

The commendable work of the GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals Ltd. was appreciated by the juries and suggested a special award to the organization.

 

The juries were of the opinion that there was no applicant eligible under Small and Micro category.

 

The Awards were presented by the Chief Guest Mr. Deepak Parekh, Chairman, HDFC Ltd. on the occasion of the 176th Foundation Day of the Bombay Chamber of Commerce & Industry on September 22, 2011 at The Crystal room, Hotel Taj Mahal, Apollo Bunder, Mumbai.
