Skills Development & Employability Project
Bombay Chamber of Commerce and Industry has been working closely with the Government of Maharashtra to facilitate its agenda on industrial growth. The Chamber strives to achieve higher interaction of the industry with the policy-makers and public and enhance welfare through the theme – "Corporates as Citizen".
The Managing committee of Bombay Chambers has decided to take up an initiative on "Employability and Skill Development". The Chamber opted for developing its own plan that is both replicable and sustainable. The plan has three main components:
1. Improving quality of training
2. Increasing employability through skill development
3. Efficient job matching and placement
Under the plan, the government will continue to contribute towards management of staff/instructors, admission process, minimum stipend to students and basic infrastructure. The contribution of the Bombay Chamber will be over and above the existing infrastructure.
To start with, the Chamber is carrying out a pilot project at Bhokar in Nanded district of Maharashtra. This area has poor industrial belt around and has a larger number of underprivileged population. It has minimum infrastructure provided by the State Government and requires fair amount of renovation. Bombay Chamber wishes to undertake construction of additional infrastructure as befitting a model institute.
The Bombay Chamber will involve most stakeholders in its mission, namely – students, parents, local civic bodies, Non- Government Organisations, industry, academicians and the government.
Partnership with Bhokar ITI
Bombay Chamber has signed MoA with DGET (Directorate General of Education and Training) and State Govt. of Maharashtra for upgradation of Bhokar ITI under Public Private Partnership (PPP) Scheme.
